History
The Salesians arrived in Pasil in 1967. Three years later, Sto. Niño Church in Suba-Pasil was established on October 14, 1970. In 1977, its administration was given to the Salesians.
Services in the parish include a training center, a youth center, and other social services. The Salesians, headed by Fr. Luis Ricciarelli, instituted the Don Bosco Youth and Training Center to address issues associated with juvenile delinquency. It was made possible through the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation and Society of the Divine World.
Previously called the Cebu Boys’ Center, the skills training center was founded in the 1980s.
Architecture
The church is situated within a gated complex. Its church features a broken gable and divided four pilasters that create three vertical panels. A short cantilevered ceiling serves as a small space for its portico. One enters the church through rectilinear door.
Above the portico are three sections of stained glass windows. On the pediment are inscriptions in channel letter, “Sto. Niño Parish, Suba Pasil”. A contemporary, quadrangular bell tower rises in the gospel side of the church.
Celebration
The feast of the Holy Child is held every third Sunday of January.
