History
The Shoenstatt Sisters of Mary founded their presence in Cebu in 1987. Previously, members of the congregation began spreading the devotion to Mary, the Mother Thrice Admirable, and their efforts produced places of worship placed under Her advocation in Butuan, Cebu, and Laoag.
On July 20, 2003, the Shrine in Lawaan was blessed by Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal. It was later made into an archdiocesan shrine in 2008.
Architecture
It is built in the likeness of the original Shoenstatt shrine in Germany, the only one in the entire Philippines. It is located in the hilltop in this southeastern city of the province of Cebu.
The shrine is small and plain. It has an arch entrance, and in its pediment is a small arch window. It has a broken gable roof, and in its highest point a steeple stands with a singular bell, a bell-like roof, a spire, and cross.
Services
The shrine is open daily from 6:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon.
