History
A church existed in Old Poblacion in 1854. It is currently in ruins from the destruction during the Philippine Revolution and the Second World War, and for a time, Catholic faith waned.
A small place of worship was built in Supang. After the war, another was established in Sto. Rosario within the property of the Ortiz Family, but the property was sold years later.
The present-day church began as a shed converted to a chapel in McLain that was owned by Juan Salvador, and it was reconstructed between 1968 and 1969. The residence of the parish priest of Buenavista was transferred in 1987.
Architecture
The portico of the church is supported by fluted columns of composite capital. Its gable is richly ornamented with finial, dentil, scrollwork, and rosettes that flank a bas-relief symbol. These decorative elements, including fluted pilasters with similar capital and leaf-like bas-reliefs, are also found in the facade. Above the entrance are a pair of arch windows bounded by Solomonic engaged columns. On the pediment is a rose window containing the image of the titular.
Celebration
The feast day is January 17.
