St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Jaro, Leyte, Philippines.

History
The name of the town originates from Haro, a product of folk medicine that is a mixture of herbs and water from a spring near where the church is located. It was organized into a town in 1810 and its name was spelled henceforth as Jaro.
The church was a visita of Alangalang and then of Barugo. Administered initially by the Jesuits, it was handed over to the Augustinians starting in 1768 and then to the Franciscans. The parish was established in 1851.
Architecture
The church was in the midst of renovation when Typhoon Haiyan (local: Yolanda) struck in November 2013. Nonetheless, works continued after the disaster and that gave way to the present state of the edifice.
A portico with a gable roof is supported by fluted columns with Doric capitals. The church and the attached bell tower in the gospel side are of stone exterior. The pediment is pierced with arch windows while the tower with rectilinear apertures. The niche of the patron is on the wall the right of the entrance.

The feast day of St. Matthew is September 21.
