History
The old name of the town was Lingawid after a tree. Its first settlers cleared the wilderness that was overrun by mangroves, grass, nipa, and palms. In the past, it was part of the Tarangnan. Over time, migrants from Bohol began to stay and build their homes.
It separated from Tarangnan by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 16 on February 9, 1979 with constituent territories that included the villages of Pagsanghan, Bangon, Buenos Aires, Calanyugan, Cambaye, Caloloma, Pange, San Luis and Villahermosa.
The church was a visita of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Gandara by the first half of the 19th century.
The new church was designed by Architect Richard G. Romulo.
Celebration
The feast day of Sto. Niño is every January.
