History
The town of Lawaan was created through Republic Act No. 2185 enacted without executive approval on May 7, 1959. It was carved out by separating Lawa-an, Bulosao, Guinoban, Bitaog, Taguite and Maslog from the municipality of Balangiga.
The church was founded on September 8, 1961.
