History
The old name of the town was Calagundian after the lagundi, a plant of medicinal value known as natural remedy for common respiratory illnesses. It used to be part of the town of La Granja (Allen) as rancheria, and its status was elevated to a visita through a decreto superior issued by Pelayo M. Chacon, the head of Samar, on September 29, 1887.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 628, it became part of the newly created municipality of Victoria on October 14, 1953. However, its status was short-lived for Executive Order No. 14 was issued on February 14, 1954 that merged Victoria back to the town of Allen.
Finally, San Isidro was established as an independent town by virtue of Republic Act No. 1187 on June 20, 1954.
The church was established on September 25, 1959.
