History
San Remigio was called Tigbacay in the olden times, owing from the abundance of plants bearing the same name that were found along riverbanks. During the Spanish colonial period, it was established as part of the town of Sibalom as early as 1797. It gained independence by being elevated to a municipality on July 1, 1864. It also its present San Remigio after a Spanish officer Remigio Multo.
The church was established in 1899.
