History
The Augustinians established the parish in Sibalom in 1737. Its former patron was St. Lucia, and it is not certain when it was changed to St. Rita of Cascia. In 1740, Fr. Jose Delfa was assigned as its parish priest and he also served Bugasong as its visita. Five years later, Bugasong became a parish while Sibalom became a visita administered by a priest from Hamtic. In 1753, it became a parish once more with Fr. Santiago Rodriguez as parish priest.
During the term of Fr. Jose Abollo that began in 1791, two 18th-century church bells were cast and in 1793, an early stone church was built. The second stone church was built around the time of Fr. Lorenzo Diaz whose term started in 1889.
Fr. Joaquin Geijo served in Sibalom in 1905 before the church was turned over to the diocesan clergy. In 2001, it was given to the Oblates of St. Joseph upon the invitation of Bishop Raul Jose Quimpo Martirez with Fr. Delbert Jardinaso, OSJ parish priest with Fr. Ferdinand Jauod, OSJ as parochial vicar. It was given back to the secular clergy in 2005.
The church is known for its bells that were cast in the 18th- and the 19th-century. Two 19th-century bells are located in Sacred Heart Church in Egaña, probably relocated there on loan from the main parish.
Architecture
The pale pink-white church is within a gated complex. Its portico by the entrance contains decorative lamps on its posts, and it is flanked to the right by the niche of the patroness. Twin pilasters extend from the entrance and onto the pediment, which is punctured by cruciform aperture. The belfry rises from the rooftop over the gospel-side aisle.

The feast of St. Rita of Cascia is May 22.
