History
The church of Bilar used to be part of its matriz, the parish of Loboc. It was declared a parish in 1830. Some areas of the town of Bilar was divided to become part of independent municipalities of Batuan, Carmen, and Sevilla. The church became a fortress for American colonizers and it was spared when they wantonly burned the town during Filipino-American war.
Architecture
The church is built in recent years and has undergone significant renovations. Its facade has a square concrete overhang with balustrade. Piers vertically divide the facade into three sections, while the horizontal sweep is outlined by moldings that partitioned the lower level from the pediment. The ground level is a portico, the central section is a rectilinear opening flanked by arches. The doorway that leads to the interior of the church is a wide arch. On either side is an arched window flanked by smaller arched windows.
The upper register is massive and occupies a larger surface area. Its pediment is divided by pilasters flanking a grand stained glass window containing an image of the Holy Infant, below it is an arcade of three arches. Flanking it are stained glass windows containing holy images. The pediment has its apex a niche of the patron. It is decorated with a white-coat arcade trim.
The four-level bell tower is erected in the epistle side of the portico capped with red dome that is surrounded by a balustrade-parapet. The first three storeys have arched stained glass windows, while the uppermost register is the belfry that has open arched windows.
Celebration
The feast for St. Isidore is held every May 15th.
