History
Danao comes from the local word for a body of water or lake as it is nestled by the banks of the Wahig River. When the Dagohoy revolt ended in 1829, it became a settlement area for the Filipino revolutionaries. It became a town through Executive Order No. 422 issued by President Carlos P. Garcia on March 14, 1961.
The church that was erected in Danao was a visita of Talibon. It became a parish in 1957, four years before the town was established.
Architecture
Concrete bands decorate and create sections of the facade, in the process defining the front wall of either wings, a portico-arcade by the entrance, the upper register, and the pediment. The walls are embellished with pierced section made of fleur-de-lis cross as well as grooved surfaces. On the pediment hangs the picture of the Holy Family, and the facade is topped with a lighted cross.
Celebration
The feast day of the Holy Family is December 30.
