History
Virgen de los Remedios Church was founded in 1960. An image of the patroness was reportedly one of three gifts that was given by Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan to Hara Humamay, later renamed Queen Juana, in 1521. The image is lost in history. The other two gifts were the Sto. Niño and Ecce Homo.
Architecture
The church is located in a gated complex. Its entrance has a cantilevered ceiling that covers over the portico and a short staircase. The primary entryway is through a rectilinear door and in each side is rectangular window. Its facade also features a central section that is recessed from the rest of the church wall; within it contains three arches the middle of which is a concrete niche of the patroness holding the Holy Child and her feet firmly on clouds. In the epistle side stands a modern-looking church-tower that is crowned with a cross.
Interiors: the church has three naves. Along the main nave is a colonnade of fluted composite pillars supporting arches and above on the clerestory are arch windows with tracery and stained glass panes. The side nave walls have rectangular apertures topped with semicircles (tympanum) with stained glass.
On the apse wall is a set of three arch windows whose panes depict theological images. Meanwhile, the retablo is rendered in red ochre and gold; its tabernacle is flanked by alcoves of holy figures.
