History
Daanbantayan was the mother parish of the church of Medellin. It became a parish in 1910, and the present-day church was constructed in 1936.
Architecture
The church stands before a tastefully maintained courtyard. A portico is laid out in the entire span of the church, a design that is similar to the churches in Bohol. Its entrance is an archway of exposed brick-like exteriors topped with a gable roof whose pediment contains an image of the Holy Infant. Flanking the entrance are Doric columns supporting arches and culminating in finials in the lower level, and in the upper level is a balcony with balustrades. The whole portico is walled by metalwork.
The door leading to the interior of the church is a low-rise arched opening flanked by arched windows and pierced walls. The church’s pediment is bare, its exterior similar to that of the portico’s entrance. It is flanked by two-bodied bell towers with pierced walls and arched openings and topped with red pyramidal roof.
Celebration
The feast of Señor Sto. Nino is held every April 27 in a celebration called Katubhan Festival.
Services
Baptism is every Sunday at 10:00 morning mass.
The parish office is open every day from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon.
