History
Jesuit missionaries erected Quinapondan as a visita of Guiuan. After the Jesuits left in 1768, it was placed under the care of the Augustinians and then of the Franciscans beginning in 1804. It became a visita of Balangiga when the latter was raised into a pueblo in 1770.
It seceded from Balangiga and became a parish on October 25, 1894. Fr. Bernardo Aparicio was its first parish priest.
In 1897, a typhoon destroyed the church and other Spanish-era structures and its people suffered from cholera epidemic. Fr. Pedro Pana, OFM, moved the poblacion to Pinamaut (present-day Barangay Sto. Niño).
Quinapondan was absorbed back to Balangiga by virtue of Act No. 960 of the Philippine Commonwealth on October 23, 1903. It was re-established as a municipality by virtue of Republic Act No. 61 on October 17, 1946.

The modernist church is characterized with stout buttresses flanking an entrance. The central section of the facade rises to two more levels, tapering in the back upwards, and decorated with pierced wall and a huge cross.
