History
Cogon is one of the districts in the city of Ormoc and named after the grass that grew in the wild in its plains. A chapel was built during the time of Fr. Francisco Santiago, the parish priest of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Ormoc City, in 1963 and it was built on a lot donated by Amalia Aviles.
Construction of a bigger house of worship commenced with the laying of the cornerstone on October 13, 1972 during the term of Fr. Filemon Quianzon. Through the donation of OSCO Sugar Central, it was inaugurated on May 13, 1976 and it was blessed by Archbishop of Palo Most Reverend Cipriano Urgel, D.D. on October 13, 1976.
It was canonically erected as a parish on January 17, 1985 and Fr. Wilfredo Alejan was appointed as its first parish priest.
