History
People from Bohol were the first migrants who made Pinabacdao their settlement in the 18th century. Its status was raised into a town prior to 1834. However, its church was a visita of the Calbiga because of the lack of manpower by the Franciscans. During the Philippine-American war, it was burned to the ground.
Calbiga and Pinabacdao were fused in 1903 by virtue of Act No. 960. Finally, it regained its municipal status through Executive Order No. 2 of President Manuel A. Roxas on July 16, 1946.
The church was canonically erected into a parish by Most Reverend Miguel F. Acebedo, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Calbayog September 15, 1957. Its first parish priest was Fr. Uldarico Villasin. In 1960, it was moved to Diocese of Borongan until it was returned to the Diocese of Calbayog in 1975.
